The Adroit Insurance & Risk Charity Golf Day, of which the Foundation is a community partner, is one of the largest events in the Geelong fundraising calendar. Since its inception, the annual event has raised more than $1 million for local causes, and will have far-reaching benefits in our community for many years to come.
This year, the Adroit Insurance & Risk Charity Golf Day is raising funds for Geelong Youth Engagement (GYE), who was the successful recipient of the 2021 Golf Day Grant of $75,000. The funds will go towards purchasing a bus to transport participants involved in GYE’s new resilience program, Spring Back Geelong.
The 19th Adroit Insurance & Risk Charity Golf Day took place on March 17th 2022 at 13th Beach Golf Links in Barwon Heads. The 150 players from businesses across the region hit the course in teams of four to play for the Adroit Charity Cup, with the team from Adroit’s Ballarat branch – Steven Coltman, Damon Edwards, Andrew Ferguson and Liam Stringer – taking home the prize. The Hole in One Competition prize was a Prestige 2022 Suzuki Baleno Hatchback donated generously by Blood Toyota and, despite a few teams getting close, no one went home with the car. Ian Cover was the MC for the evening function, which included an entertaining auction of exciting items over an exceptional seafood feast. We successfully raised $104,000 at the event, with the balance of raised funds added to one of Adroit’s two Sub Funds within the Foundation – the Adroit Golf Day Sub Fund. Return on investment of these funds will support grants provided to many other great community organisations in our region helping those in need.
“Geelong Youth Engagement has been working and planning on rolling out a resilience-based program aimed at young people dealing with social challenges named Spring Back Geelong. The purchase of the bus will enable us to offer this service to participants who, in the past, may not have been able to attend due to a lack of transportation. Geelong Youth Engagement is incredibly grateful to Adroit Insurance & Risk, The Geelong Community Foundation and their supporters for helping bring this vision to reality,” shares Andy Brittain, CEO of Geelong Youth Engagement.
