Foundation News
It has been a tremendous year for the Geelong Community Foundation in 2020-21, in terms of generous donations from new and existing Sub Funds, strong market return on our investment portfolio and grants paid to community organisations in excess of $1 million. Financial highlights include:
- $30.96 million funds under management (up from $25.92 million last year)
- $1,134,356 in donations (up from $603,795 last year)
- $1,043,100 in grants paid
- An investment return of $4,482,148
We would like to thank all of our donors who showed their generosity throughout the year. We had a brilliant response from our 174 Sub Funds, with nearly 50% contributing to their Sub Fund during the year, for a combined contribution of more than $1.1 million.
Geelong Community Foundation Chairperson Hayden Torney said a huge positive to come out of the difficulties of the past year is the apparent greater inclination for the community to pull together to overcome our challenges. “My benchmark for this heightened willingness to help others is reflected in your generosity to the Foundation,” he said.
Geelong Community Foundation CEO Gail Rogers said the value of the Foundation’s work becomes clearer every year, especially during a challenge such as COVID. “We will be here, not just to support organisations that are caring for people in our community now, but we’ll be here during the next challenge that we are confronted with, and the next,” she said.
