On Monday, our CEO Amy Waters and Program and Impact Manager Charlotte Walker attended Respect in Action, a regional showcase highlighting powerful local and state-wide initiatives aimed at building safe, respectful, and inclusive sporting communities.

The event featured inspiring examples of how sporting clubs and regional facilities are advancing gender equality and fostering respectful relationships across our region.

The Geelong Community Foundation is proud to support the Respect Starts Here program through a two-year grant in partnership with The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre.

“This important initiative recognises the vital role community sport can play in promoting gender equality and preventing gender-based violence,” said Amy.

“It was especially rewarding to see the progress of Respect Starts Here, including the premiere of a new video series and supporting resources that demonstrate the critical role community clubs can play in creating cultural change and responding to gender-based violence.”

On Friday, our CEO Amy Waters joined Megan and Laura from The Empowerment Challenge and hundreds of Geelong Mums to celebrate mothers and mother figures at the Mothers Day Luncheon.

The event celebrated the power of motherhood and raised funds for two of our Grants partners The Empowerment Challenge and Our Village.

The Empowerment Challenge supports younger mums, who are often experiencing vulnerability, to thrive. Amy recently heard co-founder Shannon Graham say, “These mums are incredible! We are just trying to breathe some of this belief into them”.

The Empowerment Challenge makes an incredible difference in the lives of these mums and their families.

This Mother’s Day is a timely reminder of the strength, resilience, and potential that exists within every mother - especially those facing tough circumstances.

By supporting organisations like The Empowerment Challenge and Our Village, we’re not only celebrating motherhood, we’re investing in brighter futures for families in our community.

The Geelong Community Foundation is seeking a Communications and Engagement Manager to lead and coordinate the organisation’s communication and engagement activities.

This new internal role reports directly to the CEO and will replace the previously outsourced communications function, providing strategic and operational leadership in content creation, social media, event coordination, media relations, and stakeholder engagement.
