The Outpost has been selected as the 2026 Adroit Golf Day Grant partner following Adroit Insurance & Risk’s annual Staff Pitch & Vote Morning Tea—an important part of the longstanding partnership between Adroit and Geelong Community Foundation.
Each year, the Staff Pitch & Vote gives the Adroit team a direct role in deciding where funds raised through the annual Adroit Charity Golf Day will be directed.
This year, Geelong Community Foundation CEO Amy Waters and Philanthropy Manager Sheridan Emond-Salmon joined the Adroit team to share the work and impact of three local organisations responding to needs across our region.
After hearing about each organisation, Adroit staff cast their votes, selecting The Outpost to receive the funding raised through the 2026 Adroit Charity Golf Day.
For Sheridan, presenting the three organisations was an opportunity to share both the breadth of work happening across the region and the increasingly complex needs local organisations are responding to.
“One of the things that really stood out was the incredible work happening every day across our community, often in response to increasingly complex needs. Being able to share those stories with the Adroit team and see how thoughtfully they engaged with each organisation was really meaningful.”
— Sheridan Emond-Salmon, Philanthropy Manager, Geelong Community Foundation

Giving staff a voice
The Staff Pitch & Vote is a distinctive part of the Adroit Golf Day Grant journey, giving employees an opportunity to better understand local community needs and play a meaningful role in where their organisation’s support is directed.
“The Staff Pitch & Vote is something our team really values. It gives everyone an opportunity to better understand what’s happening in our local community and have a genuine say in where the funds we raise through the Golf Day will go. It makes the whole experience much more meaningful for our people.”
— Josie Nadile, Operations Manager – Adroit Insurance & Risk

Supporting The Outpost
The Outpost is Greater Geelong’s only after-hours, no-referral food relief service, providing hot meals, practical support and a welcoming place of connection every day of the year for people experiencing hardship.
Its support extends beyond a meal. The Outpost also provides clothing, hygiene items and other essentials, as well as access to trusted partner services and local support agencies—all within a safe, welcoming environment where people are treated with dignity and respect.
Recent data reinforces the growing pressure on services like The Outpost. Geelong Community Foundation’s Vital Signs 2026 Data Update shows that 5,161 people accessed specialist homelessness services across the Geelong region in 2024–25, up from 4,871 in 2023.
The Outpost is seeing that demand firsthand, reporting a 21 per cent increase in demand. Open 365 nights a year, the organisation has served more than 62,000 meals, supported by 118 volunteers who have contributed more than 8,300 hours.
For Adroit staff, hearing about that work provided a clear connection between the Golf Day and the difference the funds raised can make locally.
“Hearing about The Outpost’s work and the growing number of people turning to them for support really stayed with me. Having the opportunity to learn about that need and then have a say in where our Golf Day fundraising will be directed makes you feel genuinely connected to the difference we can make as a team.”
— Monique Shalit, Marketing & Community Manager – Adroit Insurance & Risk

From the staff vote to the green
With The Outpost now selected as the 2026 grant partner, attention turns to the Adroit Charity Golf Day this November, when businesses and supporters from across the region will come together to raise funds in support of The Outpost.
The amount raised on the day will determine the final value of the 2026 grant, helping The Outpost continue and strengthen its work for people experiencing hardship across our region.
The partnership brings together Adroit’s people, the local business community and Geelong Community Foundation’s community knowledge—connecting local generosity with local need.
Team registrations for the 2026 Adroit Charity Golf Day close at the end of August. To take part, contact the team at Adroit Insurance & Risk – 03 5244 7851
