About Gifts in Wills
A gift in your Will is an opportunity to create a lasting legacy for the Geelong region and the people who call it home.
By including the Geelong Community Foundation in your Will, your generosity will continue supporting local people, families and communities for generations to come. Whether your passions is education, health and wellbeing, social inclusion or helping those facing the greatest need, your gift can continue to reflect the values and causes that matter most to you.
Many people choose to honour themselves, their family or a loved one through a Named Fund. Creating a lasting tribute while supporting the causes they care about.
If you decide to leave a Gift in your Will, we would be grateful if you could let us know. Sharing your intentions allows us to thank you, welcome you into our community of legacy supporters, and ensure we understand your wishes.

Types of Gifts You Can Leave
There are a number of ways you can leave your legacy to the Foundation including:
- A specific gift – a specific amount of money, however, this does not allow for changes of circumstances or for inflation.
- A percentage gift – this can vary from the entire estate to any percentage the donor may choose and Will not impact on family or other beneficiaries should the estate be affected by unforeseen circumstances.
- A residual gift – the whole residual or part thereof, after personal beneficiaries have been included.
- Assets – shares, paintings, property or any other item deemed to be assets may be left to your organisation. (These should not be tied in the Will, making it impossible for the items to be sold to realise the monetary value).
- A contingent bequest – a contingency in the event of a beneficiary pre-deceasing the donor, in which case their bequest could then revert to the charity.
