2017 Grant Partner
In 2017, P500 was established to engage new donors who are both keen to contribute to supporting our community, and who want to experience first-hand the high impact of collective giving.
Philanthropy 500 (P500) provides a collective giving group within the Geelong Community Foundation that will make a lasting difference to the people of the Geelong region.
In 2017 we engaged 90 donors who provided $500 each. This donation was pooled to make a $22,500 grant and the establishment of the P500 Sub Fund within the Foundation with the other $22,500. The P500 endowment fund provides a lasting gift to our community with the interest from this fund added to future P500 grants each year.
The three shortlisted organisations in 2017 were;
1. Gateways Support Services
2. Samaritan House
3. Lazarus Community Centre
More information about each of the finalists is available here.
Gateways Support Services was the successful inaugural grant recipient in 2017 receiving $22,500 to purchase four specialised paediatric hi-lo beds for children who have complex medical needs. The new beds will be used for the Boost4Kids respite program, which provides safe overnight out-of-home support for children and young people.
