2022 Grant Recipient

In 2022, we secured 261 donors @ $500 each, giving a total of $130,500 half of which is added to the P500 Endowment Fund. A 4% contribution is made from this Sub Fund annually to the grant amount, providing a lasting, growing, sustainable gift to our community, providing a grant total of $75,000 this year.

As the Endowment Fund grows so the interest component will grow that is added to the grant amount each year.

The three shortlisted organisations in 2022 were;

Wombat’s Wish was the successful grant recipient in 2022 receiving $75,000.

2021 Grant Recipient

In 2021, we secured 237 donors @ $500 each, giving a total of $118,500, half of which is added to the P500 Endowment Fund. The interest generated in 2021 from the Endowment Fund was $9,071 which was added to the $59,250, providing a grant total of $68,000 (rounded).

As the Endowment Fund grows so the interest component will grow that is added to the grant amount each year.

The three shortlisted organisations in 2021 were;

1. Common Ground Project

2. Geelong Mums

3. Geelong Youth Engagement

Geelong Youth Engagement was the successful grant recipient in 2021 receiving $68,000.

2020 Grant Recipient

In 2020, we secured 174 donors @ $500 each, giving a total of $87,000, half of which is added to the P500 Endowment Fund. The interest generated in 2020 from the Endowment Fund was $2,500 which was added to the $43,500, providing a grant total of $46,000.

As the Endowment Fund grows so the interest component will grow, eventually surpassing the donated amount.

The three shortlisted organisations in 2020 were;

1. BCYF (Bellarine Child Youth & Family)

2. Feed Me Bellarine

3. Hope Bereavement/Bluebird Foundation

Feed Me Bellarine was the successful grant recipient in 2020 receiving $46,000. 

2019 Grant Recipient

In 2019, we secured 180 donors @ $500 each, giving a total of $90,000, half of which is added to the P500 Endowment Fund. The interest generated in 2019 from the Endowment Fund was $7,500 which was added to the $45,000, providing a grant total of $52,500.

As the Endowment Fund grows so the interest component will grow, eventually surpassing the donated amount.

The three shortlisted organisations in 2019 were;

1. Shine for Kids

2. The Sanctuary Counselling Centre

3. Ocean Mind

The Sanctuary Counselling Centre was the successful grant recipient in 2019 receiving $52,500.

2018 Grant Recipient

In 2018, we secured 150 donors providing a grant of $40,000 which included $2,500 interest earned on the P500 Endowment Fund which commenced in 2017. An additional $37,500 was also added to the P500 endowment fund. Interest from this fund will be added to the P500 grant annually.

The three shortlisted organisations in 2018 were;

1. Good Cycles

2. Barwon Child Youth & Family

3. Winchelsea Community House

2017 Grant Recipient

In 2017, P500 was established to engage new donors who are both keen to contribute to supporting our community, and who want to experience first-hand the high impact of collective giving.

Philanthropy 500 (P500) provides a collective giving group within the Geelong Community Foundation that will make a lasting difference to the people of the Geelong region.

In 2017 we engaged 90 donors who provided $500 each. This donation was pooled to make a $22,500 grant and the establishment of the P500 Sub Fund within the Foundation with the other $22,500. The P500 endowment fund provides a lasting gift to our community with the interest from this fund added to future P500 grants each year.

The three shortlisted organisations in 2017 were;

2. Samaritan House

3. Lazarus Community Centre
