𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗧 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗡𝗘𝗥 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗧𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧: 𝗕𝗟𝗨𝗘𝗕𝗜𝗥𝗗 𝗙𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

Each week more than 70 young singers from the Bluebird Foundation Inc. NORTH Children’s Choir gather for rehearsals across two locations and four choir groups.

The organisation collects student from 10 different schools, using a mix of buses and walking school buses (like the one pictured here, making its way to rehearsal beneath a rainbow sky) to ensure that everyone arrives safely.

Participants are provided with performance uniforms and afternoon tea, and by removing several barriers, Bluebird is able to make sure that every child can access a high-quality developmental music education through signing and performance.

The Geelong Community Foundation is proud to support this wonderful organisation and the important impact is is having on our community.

This week, our CEO Amy Waters and Program and Impact Manager Charlotte Walker had the pleasure of visiting our newest grant partner, @common_ground_project, to see their inspiring urban farm in action!

The Foundation has funded Common Ground to deliver their Staying Ground program, providing paid hospitality training and employment pathways for migrant and refugee women seeking meaningful employment in the Geelong region.

From rows of thriving produce to hands-on community involvement, it’s clear this project is cultivating more than just food - it’s growing connection, skills, and sustainable futures.

We’re proud to support such an impactful initiative that aligns so closely with our values.

We were honoured to present the Geoffrey Neilson Award to Gail Rodgers at our Annual Grant Reception last week.

Gail served as CEO of the Geelong Community Foundation from 2016 to 2024, following years of dedicated service to the sector through roles at United Way, Volunteering Geelong and various local boards and committees. Her deep commitment to community, inclusion, and service embodies the very spirit of this award.

The Geoffrey Neilson Award recognises individuals who demonstrate exceptional volunteerism, compassion, and long-term dedication to Geelong. Gail’s legacy is one of quiet leadership, tireless advocacy, and genuine love for this community.
