2021 P500 Grant Round Now Open

The 2021 P500 grant of $68,000, being offered in the impact area of community wellbeing across the Geelong region, is now open for applications.  Applications close at midnight on 14th September.

In 2021, the grant of $68,000 is the largest ever offered in the short five-year history of P500.  We are grateful for the record number of donors – 236 – who have joined the program this year to support the community.

P500 is a giving circle within the Geelong Community Foundation.  Donors to the program are individuals, couples, families and local businesses that pool donations of $500 to create a high-impact gift to a community organisation with deductible gift recipient status.  50% of the donations received annually are added to the P500 endowment fund with interest earned from this fund added annually to the grant amount.

All the grant details can be found at https://www.geelongfoundation.org/grants/philanthropy-500-grant .   Applications will be reviewed by the P500 Grant Review Panel comprising members of the Foundation Grants Committee, P500 Committee and two donors from the P500 program.  Three applications will be shortlisted and announced in late October.

The final grant recipient is chosen by vote by the P500 donors.  Subject to COVID restrictions, vote night will be held in November (date tba).  If we cannot gather, the event and vote will be held online.  At the event, the shortlisted organisations will pitch their application to P500 donors and participate in a donor ‘Question and Answer’ session.  Donors will then vote for their preferred grant recipient. The organisation with the most votes will be announced on the night and receive the $68,000 grant.

P500 is a unique program that brings together donors and organisations for the benefit of our community.  Please visit www.geelongfoundation.org/giving/philanthropy500 to learn more about giving to P500.
