Geelong Youth Engagement STRIVE training session
On Thursday 14th July, P500 Committee members joined a training session for Geelong Youth Engagement’s new STRIVE program. STRIVE is funded by the Geelong Community Foundation’s $68,000 P500 grant from 2021.
The program supports disadvantaged young people who miss out on a place in Geelong Youth Engagement’s renowned Geelong Kokoda Youth Program. The 20-week program runs over two terms for one afternoon each week. Each training session involves 45 minutes of group physical activity and 45 minutes of goal setting and community service. The sessions also include guest professionals – varying from health and wellness professionals to Victoria Police members, community group members, sportspeople or everyday people who have overcome challenges in life – who can support the young people on their current challenges and provide positive guidance for the future.
In the video below, P500 Chair Cormac Hanrahan takes us into the STRIVE training session. Let’s see how the latest P500 grant is supporting our community.
