Media release: The Power In You Project secures Adroit Insurance & Risk’s Golf Day $75,000 Capital Grant

On Wednesday October 26, 2022, Adroit Insurance & Risk and its community partner the Geelong Community Foundation hosted their Golf Day Capital Grant Pitch and Vote Night at the Empire Grill in Geelong. At this annual event, Adroit staff members voted on their preferred organisation to receive the $75,000 Capital Grant. The Power In You Project was the successful recipient.

“The Adroit team are extremely proud of the partnership that we hold with the Geelong Community Foundation and the positive impact that our team, clients and supporters have contributed to in the Geelong community. I am delighted to see the projects that we have supported come to fruition and knowing that we have helped make the lives of some of the more vulnerable people in our community better,” says John Leavey, Adroit Insurance & Risk Managing Principal.

“The ability for the Foundation to provide local community organisations with a capital grant opportunity, through funds raised at the Adroit Golf Day, is quite unique, as is the partnership we have with Adroit that includes their staff in the grant review and decision-making process,” adds Gail Rodgers, CEO of the Geelong Community Foundation.

Cultura and the Power In You Project were the two local organisations that were shortlisted to pitch. The Power In You Project received the most votes from staff, securing the $75,000 grant.

The Power In You Project began in 2017 and offers a critical service that helps to build essential life skills for people that are lost while battling addition, mental health challenges and while being in the justice system. The program aims to build trust, self-confidence, leadership and communication skills of participants through a structured curriculum of learning emotional fundamentals and community engagement, as well as offering vocational counselling. The Power In You Project will use the grant to renovate an onsite shed, increasing service capacity through the addition of counselling rooms and activities for those suffering with addiction and mental health challenges.

Adroit Insurance & Risk will host its 20th Annual Charity Golf Day at 13th Beach Golf Links in Barwon Heads on 2 March, 2023.
