2020 Grants

Directors of the Geelong Community Foundation last week approved $1,032,500 in grants for 2020/21 to community organisations supporting people in the greater Geelong Region.
The Foundation delivered 48 grants to a diverse range of organisations. Members of the Grants Committee, responsible for the review of more than 85 applications, were challenged this year through the impact of CoVID-19. Our grant applications closed on the 17th February, but when the pandemic hit we went back to every grant applicant and provided the opportunity for them to re-submit their application based on their new priorities and changed circumstances for their clients.
We also prioritised applications with a focus on food security, mental health, isolation and family support. It was difficult to see great applications not able to be supported, but this is always a challenge for the Grants Committee.
This year the Board also approved a number of emergency grants, endorsed with rapid turnaround to help organisations that were struggling to manage the demand on their service from people in the community impacted by CoVID-19.
The Foundation has been making a difference in the Geelong region for the past 20 years, working to deliver long term sustainable change. Believing that smarter giving, results in a bigger impact, now and forever.
